Dr. John J. DuPlessis, Jr. has been practicing orthodontics since 1987. He was sure he wanted to be an orthodontist since seventh grade when he had braces himself. The thing he enjoys most about orthodontics is showing a patient their before and after photos, knowing he has made a positive change in their lives. Dr. D. enjoys working with children and adults, but has a special bond with younger patients. He is known as a magician and practical joker at times!
Dr. D attended the University of Kentucky for his undergraduate and dental school education where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1985. He completed his Orthodontic Residency at Saint Louis University in 1987. He regularly attends continuing education courses, usually doubling the required number of hours.

Dr. D is very proud of the team at DuPlessis Orthodontics. They have over 120 hours of combined experience. Their experience speaks volumes and allows patients to be exceptionally cared for.
Dr. D has been married to his wife Julia since 1982. They have three girls; Elizabeth, who is now Dr. D’s partner in the practice, Sarah, a physician’s assistant in Elizabethtown, and Emily, an accountant in Chicago. When Dr. D is not working, you can find him walking and taking care of the trail around Freeman Lake, playing Words with Friends, and traveling. He is active at his parish, Saint James Catholic Church, and Rotary Club of Elizabethtown. He looks forward to helping in the revitalization of downtown Elizabethtown in the next few years.
